No matter the industry you are in reputation is key factor to long term success. Weather it is being transparent or making choices that are not in the best interest of the audience having a good reputation is better than a good paycheck. I will break down steps to not only building a good reputation but also maintaining and future work needed to continually grow your reputation.

Who am I and why do I qualify to tell you this? That is a great question. I am a 42 year old credit manager for a fortune 500 company and I hold a place in NFT circles as an educator and project contributor. I have spent that last 10 years training people in sales and in personal growth in my real world job and NFT projects how to create projects in the last 3. Reputation is one thing that I have built in this time.

Reputation can get you far.

Be Honest

When you have nothing to hide you sleep easier, you produce in a free environment and you can live on the edge more. Living on the edge does not mean crossing any lines. We can all push the envelope openly and should to see what needs to be changed in situations. But living with a code is important and working with in lines are important. You can right most wrongs but living with them is what you ultimately have to do so choosing right and smart is always the best choice.

Be Consistent

Show up everyday and give it your all. Try your best and let the math work its way out. Someone once told me that. He said if you work hard the favors eventually flip to you more that it does against. So if you just work hard and consistent then things will work out.

Don’t be hard on yourself when you are learning something. Time rewards all that take it to the advantage to them. Just work and learn and when you make a mistake repeat and learn again. Try to work on not making mistakes more than once and always learn when you make those mistakes. By doing this we strengthen ourselves like steal.

Work Hard

Hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard. You know that saying by Tim Tebow, well I believe it. Put in your work, get good at something specific and work that angle as much as you can. In all pockets of the world all niches are making success somehow, either monetary or building audience. The first step is knowing that you are on a mission and that your mission is to know all you can about what you are trying to learn and you learn it well. Then you teach it.

Have you put your 10k hours in? This is important. If you are not learning then you must already know it. I mean if you have not put your 10k hours of work in the area of your expertise then do it. Put in your time and build your reputation in that area. Prove to others what you have to give and learn if you love what it is your going to do. Loving it is important.

Work well with others(even in disagreement)

One of my favorite things to do is to debate others about things that we disagree on. My divorce could be blamed on me debating a little to much(joke). But debate is the great fruit of exploration and I have done my fair share of debating. One thing that is always known is however our views are different we will never make it personal or cross into a line of personal destruction of what the other has built. I can feel one way about something and you can feel the other way and all can learn from both views. This to me is important, this is the freedom of the mind. To be able to be free to express your views and do it in a way where all learn and become more educated.

Give credit and help to others: this is important. We want to make sure we give credit to our spouses, our kids, our associates and our customers. Just as we should give credit we should always help others. Helping is the best way to learn. If you look at a winning football player interview he always gives the credit away. This is with intention and is done over and over. You give the credit away and if you are surrounded by the right people it will come back ten fold.

In closing building your reputation takes time and can be done through:

  • Being Honest.
  • Being Consistent.
  • Hard Work.
  • Working well with others.

The last thing to put it all together is always having a mind that you know nothing. The title expert should only be said by another. Not you. Live a life of always learning. Understanding we don’t know anything. As soon as you know it all you will go backwards and if you want to have a great reputation you need to always learn and always teach. And always practice being humble. Reputation to me will always be the most important thing a person can have and building it takes time but when you have it you will know you do and be all the better for it.
